CHAIRMAN'S REPORT
The Chairman reminded members that this was his third or fourth time in office, having stepped in once get togethers were allowed following a very difficult year during which all members of the previous committee, except Diane Milton, had for various reasons had to stand down. He thanked the previous committee for all their work before covid hit and Diane for keeping the group alive.
He thanked Kate for her strong support at our Weyhill rally in encouraging others to join Diane, and those who came forward to help i.e. Damian Gallagher, Janet Macey, Jim Harris and Roger Milton in addition to himself. He then outlined what each had done.
As Secretary Diane had been of great assistance to him during his time as Chairman; Damian worked as group Treasurer until he sadly passed away recently; Janet had promoted our group and rallies on social media along with any changes, also persuading members to carry out reception duties and raffles; Jim had looked after our guests and helped out wherever needed and Roger, already assisting Diane during her lonely time on the committee, had continued to help out wherever needed, attending and inspecting proposed rally venues also visiting Damian’s family with Diane after we received the sad news of his passing. Another person not on the committee but a great help with promoting our rallies was Steve Huckstepp, who looked after our web site. The Chairman extended his thanks to them all.
He also thanked all those that have helped out with reception duties, raffles, hall set ups and decorations, quizzes and music, also those people that have helped out with the other things that made our rallies a great success this year.
The Chairman emphasised that what made a rally was the members attending and enjoying themselves. He observed that the numbers attending some of our rallies has been low this year, and that maybe the reasons for this could be explored more fully at the members meeting.
Once again he called for members to come forward and help keep the group going especially by joining the committee; this could be fun if there were enough people to share the load.
